What if the word "homosexual" was never meant to be in the Bible?

This award winning documentary recounts how the word "homosexual" was first put into the Bible in 1946 and the circumstances around its intended use and subsequent misuse.  It will also explain "the mystery of how theology, history, culture, and politics led to a biblical mistranslation, the man who tried to stop it, and the impassioned academic crusade of the LGBTQIA+ Christian community driven to discover the truth."

The movie and our watch party is a safe and inviting space for all LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.  In this space, you will find support and affirmation.  CrossRoads strives to be a place where we have "open Bibles, open minds and open hearts."

The movie watching party is free and open to anyone in the community and is especially geared towards:

  • LGBTQ+ persons of faith or those traumatized from religious experiences
  • LGBTQ+ allies and advocates who desire to better understand the biblical context of passages that have been weaponized against the LGBTQ+ community
  • Individuals interested in exploring how the Bible is interpreted and translated
  • Seekers who want to better understand God, faith, and life through the lens of acceptance and love

Light refreshments will be provided.

Following the movie, there will be a short debrief and discussion about the movie and what it evokes within us.  We will talk about ways to live out a more inclusive, welcoming, and affirming faith regardless of our diversity.
