In this series, we will focus on the matriarchs of Israel (Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel). Through their lives, we will see how patriarchy became prevalent in the ancient near eastern world and how it leads to harm.
In this first message, we focus on Sarah's relationship with Abraham. Specifically, we hone in on the events in Egypt where Abraham coerces his wife to act and speak like she is only his sister. We see the way that patriarchy oppresses women to be something different than their authentic selves and how we need to stand for those who are marginalized.
