In this series, we will focus on the matriarchs of Israel (Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel). Through their lives, we will see how patriarchy became prevalent in the ancient near eastern world and how it leads to harm.
In this second message, we focus on Hagar, Sarah and Abraham's servant, who will bear Abraham's firstborn son, Ishmael. We will see how harm develops in the household, resulting in Hagar fleeing into the desert. Yet, in her distress God searches for her, sees her and hears her. God also comes to us in our struggles. He is the God who sees!
