Acts 16:11-15, 40
Leading the Charge (pt. 3: Lydia)

In this series, we will examine the lives of various women who served as leaders in the early church. These women were evangelists, pastors, deacons, and so much more. As the modern church wrestles with the appropriate roles of leadership for women in the church, we must consider these important biblical examples.

In this third week, we look at a woman named Lydia. Lydia went with other women to the river to pray, met Paul, believed Paul's message, and opened her home to start the first church in Europe. She led that church by hosting a home-church and likely helping pastor or lead the congregation in its early years and using her connections as a prominent business owner to grow the followers of Jesus in Philippi.
