In this series, we will examine the lives of various women who served as leaders in the early church. These women were evangelists, pastors, deacons, and so much more. As the modern church wrestles with the appropriate roles of leadership for women in the church, we must consider these important biblical examples.
In this fifth and final week, we look at several women mentioned in Romans 16. Most significantly, we examine the deacon, Phoebe, who is also the courier and teacher of the book of Romans, and Junia, an apostle of great significance in the early church. In addition, we briefly examine the other women mentioned in this chapter and how many women held prominent leadership roles that were supported by Paul.
