1 Corinthians 11:1-16
Paul, Paul, Why Do You Confuse Me? (pt. 3: 1 Corinthians 11:1-16)

In this series, we will examine some of the most confusing Pauline passages. In these sections of Paul's writing, he addresses the role of women in the home, church and community. We will explore what Paul says in these texts and the consistency with his affirmation of women in leadership.

In this third message, we look at Paul's counsel to encourage women to wear head coverings. We see how this emphasis on others-centered modesty was distinctive from other religious and secular practices in Corinth. We will also see Paul's emphasis on interdependence between God and humans, both men and women, his encouragement for us to collaborate with each other, and his intention to trust in personal autonomy to care for one another.
